About Hound & Homestead
Hi, I’m Laney! 👋🏻
Founder of Hound & Homestead
Yep, that's me and my horse, Dakota! He has been by my side for over 20 years. I have been an animal lover my entire life. My love of dogs (especially hounds) started when I was about three years old and would run over to the neighbor's house to play with Duke, their sweet, floppy-eared beagle. I was fortunate to live on a farm where animals were everywhere! That's where horses became my passion.
I attended Hocking College and obtained a degree in Equine Health & Complementary Therapies and Wilderness Horsemanship. Following college, I started working in small animal medicine and worked for over ten years as a veterinary assistant. During that time, I got married, became a mama to two sweet girls, three hounds, one kitty, and six chickens! My life is still centered around caring for animals, just a little differently now.
I have been pet-sitting for over three years and love it! I have made so many new friends, both 2-legged and 4-legged. My passion is caring for them and loving them, just as you would if you were there!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Laney did an excellent job of taking care of Bella while my wife and I were on vacation. We received texts and pictures daily from Laney letting us know how Bella was doing. I highly recommend her to take care of your pet. She treats Bella as if Bella was her own family pet. My wife and I will call Laney to care for Bella every time we need someone to care for Bella. The only drawback I can think of is I think Bella may love Laney more than us now.”

“Laney was very professional and accommodating in taking care of our 7 month old Bassett Hound Ruby. She went above and beyond in taking care of her and even went as far as getting her treats and dressing her up for Halloween. We will definitely use her again in the future. “

“Laney has taken care of our three horses and one dog many times over the last 8 years. Sometimes for as long as two weeks at a time during our vacations and too many extended weekends to count. Never worried for a moment about our fur babies. Laney is very caring, conscientious and dependable”
